The terminal unit for the receipt and discharge of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) is located in the western part of the Black Sea Terminal. The unit is designed for the transshipment of liquefied petroleum gases with further delivery to the destination points via LPG carriers.

Product turnover of the unit:

• Propylene – 60 000 metric tons per year
• Butylene butadiene fraction – 42 000 metric tons per year

Year of exploitation start – 2012

Unit for receipt and discharge of LPG consists of:

• Twin side LPG railway trestle for receipt and discharge of 30 rail tank cars and loading LPG to the gas carrier and vice versa;
• Gas compressor station with 3 compressors for discharge of LPG vapor stage during loading of the gas carrier;
• Separator unit for the separation of LPG vapors and drainage tank with pumps for further discharge of gas condensate to the LPG gas carriers via loading lines;
• Manifolds for loading of LPG to the gas carriers and vice versa;
• Nitrogen compressor station with nitrogen generation capacity of 1 500 m3/h for purging of LPG from rail tank cars to the gas carriers and purging of technological lines and equipment;
• Cold flare for relief and venting of purge gases and scavenging from the pressure safety valves;
• Transformer substation for power supply;
• Control room for logic controllers and system monitors.

All operations for receipt and discharge are controlled via a local and remote control room using an automated control system (SCADA). Information about all operation parameters including pressure, temperature, product availability, quality of generated nitrogen, the operation mode of equipment etc., are obtained using the appropriate instrumentation installed on the technological lines and equipment. Also, the unit is provided with all the necessary systems for accident prevention and response, such as the LEL gas analyzers, emergency shutdown valves, bursting valves and fire suppression systems.
