Testing of Automatic Fire Fighting System (AFF)

Black Sea Terminal’s (BST) automatic firefighting system (AFF) consists of three parts:

1. Fire detection system

2. Foam extinguishing system

3. Water cooling system

To keep the AFF in continuous preparedness, these systems are subjected to periodic maintenance, which includes test runs of pumps and testing of the operability of the extinguishing and cooling devices.

One of the most important conditions in the effectiveness of the AFF is the technical state of automation. To this end, the following tests are undertaken every six months:

1. Stage 1 - The operability of automatic drives for pumps and valves.

2. Stage 2 - The operation of the automatic firefighting system in the full cycle: which includes checking signal transmission, the timely start-up of fire pumps and the activation of the extinguishing and cooling systems.

Simultaneously, the condition of the fire pipelines, water cooling equipment and foam extinguishing equipment is checked. Test results are reported and certified by members of the test committee.
