Kulevi Oil Terminal’s supplier evaluation process

Supplier evaluation is the process of assessing and approving the company’s potential line of suppliers via various quantitative and qualitative evaluation measures. The process and approach to supplier evaluation is usually applied to the current suppliers. This is done in order to measure and monitor their performance for the purposes of reducing the costs of the goods/services required, boosting risk reduction and driving continuous improvement in their performance. The supplier evaluation process is a vital part of the BST management system. The proper supplier evaluation forms are filled out twice annually. The following issues are addressed while undergoing the evaluation process:

  • Health, safety and environmental issues
  • Goods/ service quality
  • Management issues
  • Planning and delivery activities
  • Skills and competency
  • Price of goods and services
  • Documentation issues
  • Communication

All departments must assess their suppliers. The results of the evaluation process are then discussed during management review meetings. Corrective actions are raised if any non-compliance is revealed. The appropriate recommendations are then distributed to the suppliers in an effort to help them improve their performance.
