Planned Maintenance of the Marian B

Kulevi Port’s access channel needs to be dredged for the purpose of providing the appropriate water depth for large vessels to pass.


The dredger MARIAN B is a self-propelled and self-dumping dredger with a length of 77 m, a width of 12.9 m, a maximum draft of 6.2 m, and a hold capacity of 1,700 m3. The vessel is also equipped with two suction pipes with an excavating depth of 16m and a performance of 1,600 m3 per hour. The ship ensures that the maintenance of depth for tankers is DWT 100,000 t. The MARIAN B has been operating in Kulevi port since 2005.

Memorable Day for the Kulevi School Children

On the occasion of New Year, as always, Kulevi Oil Terminal made sure to join the teachers and students of Kulevi Public School in their celebrations and helped to create for them a beautiful and festive day. Upon arrival at the school, the children gave a warm welcome to the guests and were eagerly waiting their gifts.


The hosts of the day presented them a beautiful concert including folk dances, songs, poem recitation and a special song in the Azerbaijani language to honor the guest.  The events were full of fun and created a festive mood. The children were full of wit and humor.

Expanding the Kolkheti Protected Areas Fund

Since 2008, Kulevi Oil Terminal has financed the Kolkheti Protected Areas Development Fund, which was established jointly by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and Kulevi Oil Terminal.


The fund was established to ensure the protection and sustainable development of the Kolkheti National Park and other protected areas by means of regular monitoring and by taking the appropriate protective and mitigation measures. The fund’s financial resources have been directed towards infrastructural development, restoration, rehabilitation, monitoring and research work in Kolkheti National Park and the Kobuleti Protected Areas (Kobuleti State Reserve and Managed Reserve).

Training course in contract management and administrative skills

As part of a training and development plan for its employees, Kulevi Oil Terminal organized a training session in contract management and administrative skills.


With contract forms being the foundation for all business relations and contract management being a process that enables both parties involved in the contract to meet their obligations in order to deliver the objectives required by the contract, this training is a necessity – especially for the BST employees, who must refresh and receive additional knowledge in contract management.

Task Risk Assessment

Any work undertaken at Black Sea Terminal (BST) is commenced under a Risk Assessment. It is mandatory to ensure that all hazards associated with any activities are identified and that the risks are assessed and managed.


The responsibilities of the people carrying out the work are as follows:


  • Understand the hazards, risks and controls associated with the task
  • Participate and contribute in the Tool Box Talk (TBT)
  • Actively monitor the worksite and surroundings for changes
  • Stop the job at any time, if they are concerned about safety

Commissioning and testing of internal storage tank floating roofs

In order to significantly reduce the emission of light hydrocarbons into the atmosphere and correspondingly reduce product loss, the management of Black Sea Terminal has decided to equip their storage tanks with pontoons, or so-called internal floating roofs.


From January 2018, four sets of such pontoons were purchased and delivered to BST for installation in the light oil storage tanks of numbers 15, 17, 20 and 22.


Currently, the installation work and commissioning of the internal floating roofs have been completed. The tests were carried out with the participation of the representatives of the installation company.

Environmental Monitoring Report for 3rd quarter of 2018

According to the agreement between Black Sea Terminal and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MoE), BST is obliged to conduct an Annual Environmental Monitoring Report (AEMR) with corresponding reporting as per the Environmental Monitoring Measurement Scheme. Overall 10 AEMRs have been sent to the MoE since the start of operation. 

The AEMR, which contains all the information pertaining to environmental protection, is being sent to MoE at the end of 1Q of each year.
